... am I the only one who actually finds him a really interesting character?
He has really no character development at all in the books; like, we see the results of a chain of really shitty choices on his part, but... what led him there?
I mean, everyone's always like "OMG, WORMTAIL IZ TTLY FTL!!!1! HE LIEK SOLD OUT DA POTTERZ AND MADE SIRIUS GO TO AZKABANZ, AND BROUGHT BACK VOLDYSHORTZ! HEZ TTLY BAD!" But we know nothing of the whys and wherefores.
I for one feel that he was a desperate man who just felt he had gone too far to be redeemed, so he may as well just stay alive as long as he could. Cowardly? Hell yeah. But it's like... he's what could have happened to Neville without the push in the right direction. As awesome as the other Marauders were, they weren't exactly shining pinnacles of good behavior. >.>
So yeah. Maybe it's just because of that time he bit Goyle, but... I think a bit of the old Peter is still there. And I am so curious to know what drove him to such a point that he would betray his best friends and abandon everything he knew to be right in the world just to stay alive.
Anyone else?
